At the core of Panel Intelligence offerings is technology that allows clients to watch and participate in “virtual” focus groups. In practice, experts fitting a certain profile are recruited for an online group discussion in which they answer sets of primary and follow-up questions and respond to statements contributed by their fellow participants. These discussions are not “live” or “real time”, but occur over a pre-determined period of days or weeks. This approach enables both participants and clients to log on to the discussion multiple times, affording all parties the opportunity for more thoughtful consideration and exploration of pertinent issues. Panel Intelligence's experienced staff assists clients with optimal research design and appropriate screening criteria for participants. Panelist selection typically begins with Panel Intelligence's proprietary network of experts and health professionals, enabling rapid recruitment and fielding.
Throughout the duration of discussions, panelists contribute often and at their convenience, a dynamic that typically results in deeper, more detailed commentary than is possible from live meetings, one-on-one interviews, or “Webcasts.” Panelist identities are concealed to foster candid response and a high level of interaction among participants. Clients are also able to view discussions as they unfold and suggest follow-up questions or identify areas for further exploration. Trained moderators—often specialists in the topic under examination—oversee the discussions, introduce follow-up questions, and help maintain focus. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
